Weekly Miracle

October 02, 2020

By Robin Gregg

Each year during the first full week of October, our industry celebrates National Newspaper Week. It is a time for us to recognize and thank all who contribute to producing the “weekly miracle.”

From the print and digital reporters and editors who report the news, the advertising sales staff who helps local retailers promote their businesses, the graphic designers who work tirelessly on layout and the crews who print our newspaper, the newspaper carriers who faithfully deliver the newspaper despite the weather and the newspaper publishers who oversee the entire process, it truly takes a dedicated team to ensure that readers have the news they need to take part in every discussion pertaining to the world’s current events..

I’d like to recognize my team of the most goal-oriented ladies this publisher could ever ask for. Janice Carman, who goes above and beyond every week for Monroe County as our Office Manager and delivery distribution; Laurie Means, who is a huge asset to Ralls County as our Office Manager; Lacey Shumard, who has made my life much easier as our Monroe and Ralls Reporter and Sales Specialist; and Main Street Media who designs our amazing layout and graphics. I, as the Publisher and Sales Manager, rely on my team daily and I work closely with Lewis County Press CEO, Clarissa Williams to bring our readers the latest in technology and breaking news. We make an amazing team and I am so thankful for everyone who I work with daily. This job is not a 9-5 Monday thru Friday job. It takes dedication and love for our communities.

Did you know that Newspaper stands for North, East, West, South Past and Present Event Report?

In celebration of National Newspaper Week, the Monroe-Ralls team has composed some of the most impactful and engaging stories written by our reporters at both large and small in various features of digital news media publications, and weekly print publications across our counties. It is our hope that these articles inspire you and serve as a reminder of the meaningful work that is being done by our team.
