Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society to Meet in Florida, MO on April 27

The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society will hold its first meeting of the year on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in downtown of Florida. Originally was scheduled for Huck Hall at Mark Twain State Park.

Karen Hunt (owner of the John & Patsy Quarles farm, Uncle & Aunt of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain)) will speak of her knowledge of the Florida, MO area. Karen is internationally known for using wires to map archaeological sites, both prehistoric and historic structure patterns. Friends of Florida will provide a lunch at the cost of $10.00. Donna Lawson, president of the Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society, will conduct the business meeting. For the year 2024, the other Officers are Nancy Tiemann, Vice-President; Travelle Whitaker, Secretary; and Jim O’Bryan, Interim Treasurer.

The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society serves 14 counties in northeast Missouri and the quarterly meetings are scheduled at various locations to make it possible for the outlying members to attend. A 33-page quarterly is published each April, June, August, and October and is dedicated to the collection of genealogy materials, both published and unpublished.
