Multiple Reports of Phone Scams
On 03/12/2021 as of approximately 1055 a.m., there have been multiple reports of a phone scam, claiming to be the Monroe City Police Department. Reports have been consistent, reporting parties advising they have received a call from a restricted number with a voicemail claiming to be with the Monroe City Police Department and requesting to be called back.
If you receive a call from a restricted number claiming to be an Officer with our Department, we recommend you contact our office phone directly during business hours (573)735-4431. After business hours you should contact the non-emergency dispatch line (573)735-4411 to be connected to the on duty Officer. This will assure you are speaking with a verified member of the Monroe City Police Department by using the above numbers. We would like to ask anyone who has received one of the prank calls to please contact us with any information at the numbers above.
We strongly suggest you do not give out any protected or private information to anyone calling from a restricted number claiming to be a Monroe City Police Officer, until you have made contact with our Office or Monroe County Dispatch Center (non-emergency) and confirm an Officer is attempting to make contact with you.
