Field Show Competition to Include Mark Twain Marching Tigers

Parade Of Champions The Show Must Go On

The parade will go on – the Parade of Champions, that is. The 29th Annual Parade of Champions marching band and field show competition sponsored by the Clark County R-1 Fine Arts Boosters, will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Kahoka, Missouri.
“We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for these bands to perform,” said Carrie Hamner, Fine Arts Boosters president. “The Fine Arts Boosters organization is grateful the (school) board and administration allowed us to go ahead with our competition. We hope to provide a safe, fun environment for the kids and their families to enjoy the show.”
While this year’s event may be smaller and look a little different due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the level of competition remains high.
Marching band fans will have the opportunity to watch several area bands compete as they march down the streets of Kahoka. The parade route will bring bands along the west side of the square and then turn on to Main Street and continue east to the High School.
An Honor Guard will lead the parade starting at 2:00 pm. Schools marching in the parade this year are: The Canton Junior High School and High School Marching Tigers, Schuyler R-1 Junior High Bighorn Cadets and High School Bighorn Brigade, Scotland County Marching Tigers, North Shelby High School Marching Band, Highland High School Marching Band, South Shelby Marching Cardinals, Mark Twain High School Marching Tigers, Trenton High School Golden Bulldog Marching Band, Central Lee High School Marching Band, Wright City Wildcat Pride Marching Band, Clark County R-1 Middle School and the Clark County Marching Indians.
The field show competition will take place at the Clark County High School Activities Field starting at 4:15 with the National Anthem and welcome performed by the combined bands of Clark County Middle School and High School. The field show competition will follow, and the night will end with an exhibition performance by the Clark County Marching Indians.
Spectators are strongly encouraged to wear masks while at the competition and to practice social distancing.

“Things will look a little different this year,” stated Hamner, “with more time allowed for performances and breaks to allow parents to exit the stands to collect their students.”

Field show spectators will enjoy music ranging from classical to musical theater to rock and roll all for a $5.00 admission price.

Schools competing in this year’s field show competition are North Shelby High School, Schuyler County High School, Scotland County High School, South Shelby High School, Mark Twain High School, Highland High School, Trenton High School, Central Lee High School and Wright City high School.

“We will not have an awards ceremony at the end of the night, but instead have a virtual awards ceremony at a later date,” Hamner explained.

Commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase and a food concession stand will be open.
