Ralls County Route A access at New London is now open

August 27, 2020

HANNIBAL – The access to Ralls County Route A, on the west side of U.S. Route 61 at New London was reopened today, August 27. Crews for Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. have worked hard to complete the closure a few days ahead of the 20 day deadline. Additionally, the offset turn lanes on U.S. 61 in the northbound and southbound lanes are complete and open to traffic at the Route A location, as well as the median U-turn located at the north end of the project.

“With the completion of the access approach to Route A, the final stage of work will begin with the closure of the U.S. Route 61 median crossover at Fifth Street. Traffic on U.S. Route 61 will be reduced to one lane at this location for a few days while crews work on removals, drainage and seeding takes place”, stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer, Brian Untiedt.

Once the median crossover at Fifth Street is removed, all work on the intersection safety improvement project will be complete with only minor exceptions and clean-up work remaining.
