Pearl M. Wortman 1914-2017
Pearl May Hansban Wortman was born on September 13, 1914, in Davenport, Iowa, the fourth of five children. She married Max S. Wortman Sr. on June 13, 1931. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1975.
She leaves five children: Max S. Wortman Jr. (passed away on March 24, 2005) wife Cora; Janet R. Wortman of Hillsboro, Oregon; Carol M. Spencer, Paris, Missouri; Betty L. Wortman, brother-in-law, Dave Gilpin, Laramie, Wyoming; and Randall Wortman, Davenport, Iowa.
She was employed as office manager at Roederer Transfer and Storage Company in Davenport, retiring in 1984 after 40 years.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Faith, was an Elder, Clerk of Session, and part of Presbyterian Women. She was past president of the Davenport Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division, a member of the Professional Secretaries International, and received her CPS rating in 1979.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She will join her husband at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.
She lived in Paris, Missouri, for the past four years, with loving care at Monroe Manor. She made her final plans with Weerts Funeral home, Davenport, Iowa, and Agnew’s Funeral Home of Paris, Mo.
