George E. Johnson 1942 – 2017
George E. Johnson, 74, of Holliday, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at his home.
George was born on September 8, 1942, in Moline, Ill., the son of Forrest and Edna Brasmer Johnson. He is survived by his previous wife, Rose Surdez of Moline, Ill.; his significant other, Susan Conrad of the home in Holliday; one daughter, Kathy Johnson of Clarence, Mo.; one son, Bradly Johnson of Moline, Ill.; one sister, Dorothy Woolley of Moline, Ill.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jerry Johnson; and two sisters, Inez Woitte and Helen Sales.
He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for the Teamsters Union for over 30 years. He received a million mile award for no accidents or tickets. He then received a second million mile awards from Crouse Carttage Company. He was also a conservation volunteer for seven years, a Texas state parks and wildlife volunteer for eight years, and a volunteer fireman in East Moline for several years. George enjoyed driving cross country, fishing and camping, and meeting people.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Moline, Ill.
