New Funding Announced for Utility Assistance

The Missouri Department of Social Services has announced an additional $15 million for summer portion of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
As part of the program, the maximum benefit has been increased from $300 to $600 per household.
People who sign up must be responsible for paying the bills, have $3,000 or less in their bank accounts and have a household income of 135 percent of the federal poverty level. That’s $2,400 a month for a family of three and $2,897 for a family of four.
Applications are available by making an appointment at the NECAC Ralls County Service Center, 411 Main in New London, at 573-985-2411 or the NECAC Monroe County Service Center, 314 N. Washington in Paris, at 660-327-4110.
