Downtown Building Coming Down

April 10, 2024

The City of Paris has been in litigation with the building owners of 227 North Main Street in Paris, Missouri to get it back to safe status. The sidewalk has been blocked off for months marked unsafe to walk in front of fear of something happening.

April 10, 2024, next door to this building is Lisa Minor, the owner of Monroe County Abstract and Title. She called Barb McCall, the City of Paris Superintendent, and reported flying bricks coming from the building and two of those bricks had hit her glass front door.

The City never did make the owner get insurance on the building.

As the day progresses, only time will tell if the road will need to be blocked or if a lane will need to be closed off. Watch the City of Paris and Monroe-Ralls Facebook pages for updates. Avoid the area as much as possible.
