Subscription Increase

Dear Valued Readers,

Few things bring us more pleasure than serving our community. Trustworthy, local news is our goal week after week, and it is our advertisers, print and online subscribers that allow us to do what we love. Your encouragement and continued support are important to keep us publishing your local news, and keep our community informed and healthy.

Unfortunately, with widespread cost increases with both printing and with postage (both of which we heavily rely on), Lewis County Press, parent company of Monroe-Ralls, has reluctantly decided it was time for a company-wide circulation increase. The increase will be small, but necessary, to spread the deficit out as much as possible. This small circulation increase will enable us to continue to mail our product out each week even in these trying and uncertain times. A time in which we feel local journalism is more important than ever.

As of September 27, 2021 each single-copy edition purchased at a newsstand or local retailer will increase from $.75 to $1.00 (additional sales tax may apply). Each yearly subscription will raise $5.00, local print subscriptions will go from $29.00 to $34.00, and neighboring county print subscriptions will raise from $40.00 to $45.00, elsewhere will raise from $50.00 to $55.00. Yearly print subscriptions will still include the online log-in at no extra cost, while online-only subscriptions will raise from $25 per year, to $30.

If you aren’t already a subscriber, we encourage you to consider a subscription. Our online subscription price is still cheaper than the old local print edition price, so this change could actually save you money if you don’t mind a digital subscription (some even prefer it!). Or, over the course of a year, with the new cost of $1.00 newsstand price, you could pay a total of $52.00, so a print subscription of $34-$55 will still save you off the newsstand price! And the convenience of having it delivered to your door is great too!

We hope that the community will understand. We all need to stick together and continue to support each other and locally owned businesses within the community. Remember to shop local whenever possible.
