Charles Hayhurst 1934-2019
Charles E. Hayhurst, 84 of Holliday, MO passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Paris, MO.
Charlie was born on December 21, 1934 in Madison, MO, the son Charles Lenard and Lillian Botkins Hayhurst. He served in the United States Army. Charlie married Betty Lou Ragsdale in December of 1985 in Texas and she survives. Other survivors include his children; Debra Wilkerson of Paris, MO, James (Mandy) Hayhurst of Thompson, MO, Doug (Keri) Simon of Columbia, MO, and Shelly (Jason) Bedsworth of Millersburg, MO; eight grandchildren; Jimmy Wilkerson, Jenette (Bradly) White, Jacob Hayhurst, Claire Simon, Chloe Simon, Cole Simon, Kate Bedsworth and Paige Bedsworth; six great-grandchildren; Doniven Wilkerson, Dawson Wilkerson, Emma Wilkerson, Ethan Wilkerson, Eragon White and Brooklyn White. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Lillian, two brothers; O.W. Hayhurst and Donnie Hayhurst; and two sisters; Norma Dye and Myrtle Roberts.
Charlie was a very active member of the Madison Lions Club for many years where he enjoyed socializing, serving others and helping with their many cook outs. He also enjoyed fellowship at the Paris Senior Citizens Center. Charlie spent most of his time in the outdoors where he would go deer hunting, fishing, working in his yard and most importantly an avid mushroom hunter. Charlie worked most of his life as a Truck driver but also did some farming. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, MO with Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of memorial service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Paris Senior Citizens Center in lieu of flowers.
