April 29, 2021

HANNIBAL – To minimize traffic impacts, a temporary closure of northbound U.S. Route 61 in Hannibal is scheduled beginning tonight, Thursday, April 29, at 11:00 p.m. extending through the early morning hours of Friday, April 30 until 4:00 a.m. “Crews will be working to move material and traffic control in order to begin the next phase of the project. Upon reopening early Friday morning, traffic will be shifted onto the passing lane in order for work to begin on the driving lane, ” explained Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. The road will be closed between Warren Barrett Drive and Market Street.

While there will be no signed detour, traffic will be routed to Warren Barrett Drive to Missouri Route 79 and back onto to U.S. Route 36. Message boards and signage will be placed at various locations to assist motorists.

Motorists will need to use caution while traveling through the area during these times. Remember to obey all work zone signs and personnel.
