On Wednesday October 25, 2018; twenty FFA members and their two advisors made their way to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 91st National FFA Convention.

There they joined Monroe City FFA Members Connor Pfaff and Logan Lucas, who were selected to be in the National FFA chorus. Connor and Logan were in Indianapolis, in the week prior to Convention learning new songs and performing at different venues with other Chorus members from across the United States.

The group completed several tours while at the convention. One included a tour of the Parkland College Geology and Earth Science Department, from Mrs. Julie Angel , and a brief talk from the Illinois State Climatologist, Mr. Jim Angel. While there, members discovered and explored different aspects of climate and an augmented sandbox where they could see topography in action. A few other tours included Purdue University Animal Science Facility, were they saw a Dairy farm operation, and a beef cattle operation. Members learned about cattle nutrition and experienced an ultrasound of a pregnant cow.

The FFA chapter also completed a National Day of service were they packed meal packs that would be sent home with children from school in the surrounding Indianapolis area.

Also, the members attended four sessions while at convention. Members took the time to support fellow member, Halli Karr and Josh Underhill in receiving their American FFA Degrees. The closing session was a highlight of the trip where they heard the National FFA President retiring address, the selection the new National FFA officers, and the opportunity to see the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump address the attendees of the 91st National FFA Convention.
