Vein Screenings Are a Great Prevention Tool

October 08, 2018

On October 4, Missouri Vein Care set up their free vein care screenings at the Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center. Jenna (Rubison) Begley, from Monroe County, was the consultant there that day.

Begley recommends everyone of all ages to get these free screenings. These vein screenings could help answer some questions a patient may be experiencing such as; having cramps at night, or restless leg syndrome, or sores/ulcers that won’t heal, or legs aching or swelling at the end of the day, or maybe you aren’t happy with the way your legs look.

These vein screenings check your blood flow in your leg veins. I had Begley check my veins, and unknown to me before the screening, I have vein reflux, which is causing my issues.

Once you are done with your free screening, and Begley or another consultant refers you to seek further testing, the Missouri Vein Care Nursing Staff will contact you to set up a more intense ultrasound appointment and a visit with their Dr. Once you have reviewed the ultrasound with the Dr. then your choices will be laid out for you if you need to move forward with some type of laser surgery.

Sclerotherapy is a type of laser surgery to block off the vein that isn’t working properly. The veins that are functioning properly will take up that extra effort of blood flow. Over time, the treated blood vessel fades and disappears. Your symptoms you had before could be just a past memory.

Begley is ultrasound certified and can answer any questions you may have.

Missouri Vein Care schedules free vein screenings in different locations throughout the year. Call 573-822-8176 or 573-629-1156 for the upcoming dates/times or if you have questions that need to be answered.
