Monroe County Extension Office Weekly Column

January 15, 2021

It’s time for Extension Council Elections in Monroe County. Monroe County Extension Council will be holding their annual election online from Feb. 1-6, 2021. Jump on our county extension website and go to extension, then elections, or use this link: https://extension.missouri.edu/counties/monroe/county-council/county-council-election One vote per Monroe County resident. Write-ins are acceptable. We have openings for representatives in both the eastern and western district, up to three may be elected in each district. There are also eleven appointed positions. This years’ slate of officers are Shelby DeOrnellis, Council Chair; Bill Coleman, Vice Chair; Alec Fodge, Secretary; and Margaret Wilkerson, Treasurer.

This is an exciting time in Monroe County Extension, and we are welcoming write-in candidates. There are many opportunities to serve, whether it's part of our Monroe Extension Foundation that is spearheading the building of new office space at 229 N. Washington or Community Outreach through the distribution of the USDA food boxes. We are also looking for opportunities to develop long term philanthropy as a vehicle to continue to provide traditional programs such as 4-H and more.

There will be no Annual Banquet in February this year, due to Covid restrictions on larger groups currently. We plan to hold a similar event in late spring/ early summer. Monroe County Extension truly appreciates the support of the Monroe County Commission and residents and their help in keeping Extension a relevant resource in Monroe County.

We encourage you to join us in making a difference in Monroe County Lives.
