Covid-19 Update

The virus known as Covid-19 has been one that we are constantly learning more about and seems to be ever changing. We reached out to both the Ralls and Monroe County Health Department for an update and here is what they had to say.

For Ralls County the numbers are as follows: Total cases are up to 714 while 72 are active cases. 633 have recovered, 5 were hospitalized and tragically 9 have died from the virus. Ralls County wanted to make sure to send the message, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones.

Monroe County has the following numbers, 27 active confirmed cases, 410 thankfully recovered, 24 active probable cases, 206 probable recovered while tragically 8 have died from the virus. Monroe County health dept also went on to say, “we see the gambit of symptoms, from cold and flu-like symptoms to intestinal discomfort. We ask for patients that are suffering from fever, chills, shakes, muscle aches, runny nose, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, fatigue, cough, breathing difficulties, chest pain, nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea to use proper precautions. It seems like it is more easily spread among members of the same household than it was earlier in the summer. Public health preaches social distancing, staying home, or at least away from crowds, wearing a mask when around people, and washing your hands often in warm water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer is a good substitute when soap and water are not available. We anticipate having COVID vaccines at the health department in the next 2-3 months.”

Thank you to the Health Departments for keeping everyone informed throughout this pandemic.
