Gary Wayne Sanders 1965 - 2017

Gary Wayne Sanders, 52, of Hunnewell, Mo., passed away at 12:54 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at his home.

Gary was born December 8, 1965, in Hannibal, Mo., to Gerold Raymond and Carol Martin Sanders.

Gary was previously married to Lorrie Beadle Sanders. She preceded him in death. He later married Lori Foubester, on April 22, 2017, at the Prairie View Baptist Church. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Carol Higgins of Center, Mo.; his stepchildren, Amanda Curless (Nick), Adam Dunn; two sisters, Kelly Burke (Leroy) of Quincy, Ill., and Tara Maple (Curt) of Hannibal, Mo.; five step-grandchildren, Skylar Curless, Jackson Curless, Brayden Curless, Adam Dunn, Jr., and Peyton Dunn. Also surviving are his mother in law and father in law, Jerry and Judy Foubester, and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Dennis Ray Higgins, and grandparents.

Professionally, Gary worked at Die Makers for many years in the maintenance department. He also worked as a gunsmith.

Gary graduated from Mark Twain High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked collecting guns and competing in target range competitions. Gary loved his dogs and his farm animals.

He also took pleasure in reading, he enjoyed reading his Bible and history books about the Civil War and the World Wars.

Gary was a Mason and also a member of the Shelbina Lodge.

Gary was a deacon at Prairie View Baptist Church, of Shelby County, Mo.

Funeral Services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Prairie View Baptist Church in Shelby County, Mo. Masonic Honors were at 10:45 a.m., at the Prairie View Baptist Church. Brother Andy Lattin officiated. Burial was at the Prairie View Baptist Church Cemetery, in Shelby County.

Visitation was from 10 a.m., until the time of services Wednesday at the church.

The family was served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo.

Pallbearers wereDennis Higgins, Leroy Burke, Curt Maple, Ethan Caldwell, Keith Caldwell, Gary Dinwiddie, Donnie Morris, and Alan Caldwell.

Honorary pallbearers were David Powell, Jason Crane, Paul Crane, Scott Boegner, Gayle Behring, Dewayne Williams, Roy Smith, and David Smith.
