Graves Applauds Inclusion of Marion/Ralls Port Authority in new Port Statistical Area

October 26, 2020

Today, Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06), Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, applauded the recent announcement that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved the Mid-America Port Commission Port Statistical Area and several Port Authorities along the Mississippi River in Northeast Missouri will be included.

“The Mississippi River plays a major role in getting our goods to market. Federally recognizing these ports is critical to their success and existence. The new Port Statistical Area will go a long way towards ensuring that we have an accurate assessment of what is being shipped out of Northeast Missouri, potentially opening the door to more economic development. Congratulations to the folks who have worked hard to establish these ports over the years and to everyone involved in getting this PSA approved by the Corps of Engineers,” said Graves.

Northeast Missouri public ports in the Mid-America Port Commission Port Statistical Area will include the Lewis County Port Authority, Marion/Ralls County Port Authority, and the Pike/Lincoln County Port Authority. A port statistical area helps the Corps of Engineers gather shipping data and rank ports based on that data.
